I currently direct the Experimental Game Lab (EGL), which is housed in the School of Literature, Communication and Culture at Georgia Tech. The EGL is a consortium of research groups engaged in a broad array of experimentation that brings together humanities, computer science, design and the arts. Research areas include: generative game design; machinima; activist, documentary and persuasive games; tangible play and novel interfaces; pervasive and Big Games; performance and embodied interaction; augmented, mixed and virtual reality; massively mulitplayer games; game art; platform studies (including game system hacking and programming); diversity and gender; game ontologies; game criticism; and cybersociology of games. In addition to serving as a shared research facility, EGL also produces annual game-related symposia, lecture series, salons, residencies and exhibitions.
